SWORDS CREEK, Va. – Mr. Foster Ball, age 72, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at his home.
Born July 19, 1934, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Noah Ball and Rosa Harris Ball. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a retired coal miner, having been employed at Seaboard Coal Co. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1760, the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Virginia and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans Camp 840.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Jane Ball, and one sister, Margaret Bowles.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ball of the home; three daughters, Debra Ball of Bristol Tennessee, Nina James and her husband Glenn of Waycross, Ga., and Kathy Perkins and her husband Scotty of Miller Creek, Va.; half-brother, Chester McGlothlin of Grissom Creek, Va.; two sisters, Sarah Cook of Council, Va., and Betty Marsh of Orlando, Fla.; three stepsons, Billy Bostic of Belfast and Harold Rose Jr. and Justin Rose, both of Council; two stepdaughters, Chasity Bostic of Honaker and Sylvia Rose of Council; eight grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter also survive.
Compatriot Ball was a long standing member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Camp 840 sent flowers along with our thoughts and prayers for the family.
